Greenprint Trustees are volunteers with diverse backgrounds and unique professional skills. All donations are used for the resources or projects themselves, as Greenprint has no overheads at all. These are covered by the respective Trustees. This creates 100% accountability and purity of intention. Funds are administered through a Board of Trustees, an attorney and an auditor. We have no hidden agendas, affiliations or ulterior motives. We are simply committed to bringing about the radical change that is urgently needed if we are to survive on Earth. We create transformation through education that has proved over two decades to be influential throughout all levels of society. This is reinforced through practical greening and economic upliftment projects in poverty stricken communities.

Greenprint Trust is a non-profit organisation specialising in the creation of original educational resources & communications campaigns. It also implements measurable sustainability & economic upliftment projects at grassroots level.
It raises funds for multi-lingual educational resources that inform and educate in order to ensure community buy-in, local government awareness and genuine co-operation. This results in tangible, measurable success. Greenprint's unique approach therefore focuses on five key aspects:
- Creation and distribution (through various government departments) of officially endorsed educational resources;
- Design and implementation of advertising and promotions campaigns based on environmental & social upliftment projects;
- Publicity for donors and sponsors through Greenprint Magazine (see link above);
- Implementation of well-researched grassroots projects;
- Monitoring, measuring, objectively evaluating, auditing and reporting of projects

Original Educational Resources
Greenprint Trust sources sponsors for the highly sought after educational resources that we research, develop, produce and distribute in up to eleven official languages. We have originated hundreds of original wall charts, board games, puppets, puzzles and other officially endorsed educational materials that provide a valuable contribution towards social upliftment, health, safety, conservation and environmental awareness.
These projects are designed to contribute to communities, clinics or to the school syllabus, making them a welcome addition to any community centre or classroom. They provide well illustrated information and ideas that are not available in text books. They are enthusiastically supported by national, provincial and municipal government and are distributed by various government departments as part of their mainstream programs.
Our posters on safety, health, nutrition, growing organic vegetables, energy efficiency, hygiene, wise use of water resources, energy generation, waste minimisation, recycling and conservation are visible on library, school and community centre walls everywhere. The pay-off for sponsors is that they are associated with something worthwhile and visible. These resources remain as an integral part of active learning programs for many years to come and have had a profound effect on the direction and content of the school curriculum.
Communications and Marketing Campaigns
We provide a unique service in that we specialise in marketing campaigns that communicate the ethics and principles underpinning social responsibility and environmental financial contributions. We immeasurably compound the benefits that should rightfully be enjoyed from this expenditure, but in fact rarely are!
In general, donations to various causes are undertaken with the aim of enhancing credibility, goodwill and loyalty for the donors - and also for their nation. However, most organisations, whether corporate or government, have severely delineated "divisions", which can at times certainly live up to their name.
Mostly the very real power of corporate donation strategies is irretrievably lost because marketing and advertising departments (and their appointed agencies) do not appreciate the benefits to be derived from campaigns revolving around such investment. In fact many employees, service providers and even senior executives secretly deem corporate social investment to be an incomprehensible waste of money that should have ended up in their own bank accounts!
It takes a very special awareness to see the bigger picture, and most conventional marketing, communications and advertising agencies are simply not orientated towards creatively interpreting and communicating philanthropic gestures or environmental contributions.
They are all too often unaware of the academic expertise, protocol and sensitivities surrounding both non-profit organisations and donor recipients. As a result their amateurish interpretations and information blunders can have the undesired effect of creating more embarrassment and confusion than eagerly anticipated accolades.
This can unfortunately make any commitment to further funding melt as fast as, for instance, the polar caps; or carbon credits from a coal fired power plant...
Publicity and Long-Term Visibility for Donors and Sponsors
Greenprint's resources are simply to valuable to be thrown away, and are designed have lasting impact. They successfully enhance their sponsor's image in the very best possible way.
Success in this genre can be measured by acceptance and visibility for years to come. These resources should not only communicate important messages, but they should be original, unique, appropriate to the local context and irreplaceable! How much of that can be said for your average commercial promotion?
Promotional resources should be designed specifically to be manufactured by disadvantaged people where possible. Some 20,000 hand puppets for Shell's Paraffin Safety Campaign (above) were made by a ladies' craft project in a local informal settlement, thereby assisting with economic upliftment as well as safety and health in the very communities for whom the campaign was destined. They were mostly made out of recycled materials, and were sent to pre-primary schools along with some script suggestions that dramatised key messages around safety in the home.
All the kids loved it, and it's doubtful whether any of them ever forgot those lessons! Campaigns should ideally focus less on marketing hype and more on valuable information and education. Clients should question common advertising industry (and magazine publishing!) practices and ask themselves what messages they are conveying to an increasingly discerning public through conventional advertising strategies?
Information, Reporting and Accountability
In addition to the unique communications capabilities outlined above, experience has shown that some really worthwhile NGO's iniatives have failed in the long run through lack of local government support. We therefore have ensured that we can provide unusual opportunities for partners, donors and investors through strong connections to local government in all provinces of South Africa via our ongoing pioneering work in IT, data mining and information delivery of municipal treasury systems. These are naturally occurring data warehouses for the socio-economic profiling of households, leading to a practical understanding of the dynamics of residents, especially those of disadvantaged communities.
This has led to the development of the practical, results orientated Imvelo GreenIT campaign which provides quantifiable, workable solutions aimed at alleviating poverty, providing economic empowerment and independence and improving services and health. We work at grassroots level with impoverished households towards innovative interventions with proven results. This relieves local government of pressure to deliver services to those who simply cannot afford them on the one hand, and it empowers households through economic benefits and practical solutions on the other.
Our reputation and skills have enabled us to obtain national and local government recognition and co-operation, without which many NGO initiatives fail to gain acceptance and long-term momentum.
Whilst there are excellent reasons to donate funds in order to build the economic, cultural and social stability of a country, research has shown that adequate reporting and good communication to all sectors - internal and external - is key to obtaining optimum leverage from non profit-driven investment.
Most corporate investors aim to derive significant benefits in terms of image building, reputation, legislative approvals, compliance, successful tenders, public recognition and increased profitability, but often these opportunities are not fully realised. Whilst many NGO’s have good intentions and practical experience, most are not in a position to provide professional auditing and reporting in order to ensure donor compliance with legislation, political dynamics, accountability and fiduciary responsibility.
They also almost certainly cannot provide original, officially accepted educational resources, established distribution networks, government recognition and award-winning advertising and promotions campaigns!
All too often donors suffer from inadequate benefits and returns. The average non-profit organisation most certainly utilises funds for worthwhile projects, but they usually do not possess the cutting-edge data management and professional creative skills to provide research, evaluations and audited reports - let alone strategic marketing and communications capabilities such as professional photography, award-winning creative concepts for branded advertising or promotional campaigns, high profile media coverage, events, exhibitions, speeches and other crucial tools.
